EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a gentle but powerful therapy that can help you work through difficult experiences, emotions and beliefs that may be holding you back.
Sometimes, experiences from our past can continue to affect how we feel about ourselves, our relationships and the world around us. We may not always recognise these connections, but they can contribute to feelings of anxiety, low self-esteem, fear or simply feeling stuck.
EMDR helps the brain process these experiences in a different way, using guided techniques such as eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation. This can help reduce emotional distress and allow you to move forward feeling more settled and confident.
Although best known for treating trauma and PTSD, EMDR is also helpful for a wider range of difficulties, including anxiety, phobias, grief, low self-worth and distressing life experiences.
You don't need to have experienced a major trauma to benefit from EMDR. Sometimes it's the smaller, repeated experiences throughout our lives that shape how we feel about ourselves today.
